The stock position of the ignition switch of a Triumph Bonneville T100 is inelegantly engineered, to say the least – very difficult to maneuver. As such, as documented in my BONNIE MOD #3 post <- click there, I purchased Joker Machine’s Ignition Switch Relocation Bracket. This allowed me to position the ignition switch on the frame’s down tube and provide, what I thought, easier access.

Joker Machine offers both a left and a right side version and without giving it much thought, I stayed true to the left side and purchased the left side version. I chose the “Clear” version (polished aluminum). Problem solved, I thought.

Fast forward two weeks. Geesh, in practice this was no better than Triumph’s stock position. It was still a convoluted practice. I would park, keep the front wheel straight, bend down to remove the key, then crank the wheel to the left, and reach over to the right to insert the key and lock the steering. It was still as awkward as before. Penny over at Delboy’s Garage remarked to me in an email that she purchased the right side version as it provided easier access. Hmmm… I mentioned this to Bryan Warren of Joker Machine about this and he said yeah, they originally only had the right side version but a customer requested a left side version and so they produced it. Bryan was kind enough to send me the right sided version.

Fast forward another two weeks. Let me tell you kids, the right sided version is the way to go. It is WORLDS more logical and efficient. I park the bike, crank the wheel to the left, and then in one fell swoop, reach over to the right side and easily remove the ignition key and lock the steering.  Coming up to the bike is just as simple – the ignition switch is easy access through and through.

I’m not going to go through the steps to install it. It’s basically the same as what I previously documented and I was extremely thorough. See BONNIE MOD #3 post. Learn from my mistake though, install the Joker Machine Ignition Relocation Bracket on the right side. Thanks Penny. Thanks Bryan.

BTW, you’ll notice that I now have the black version. I much prefer this. It blends into the chassis quite nicely. Here are a couple pics:

You’ll also notice that I removed the side reflectors. Those things were clunky looking. The velcro strips, by the way, were from me attempting to attach an EZ-Pass. No luck. The bike basically acts as a Faraday cage.
